Job Requirements:

Team player, punctual and reliable, computer skills, customer service skills and neat appearance. No visible tattoos or piercings.

Your job will primarily entail taking reservations and selling rooms, taking restaurant reservations, helping seat in the restaurant in the evenings, vacuuming the restaurant, inspecting rooms and small amount of laundry.

Must be willing to do what it takes to get the job done when short on staff or in the shoulder seasons or winter when we are not fully staffed. This may entail cleaning restaurant bathrooms, vacuuming the restaurant, stripping hotel rooms of linen, doing hotel laundry, inspecting rooms, performing outside duties such as sweeping, watering (and snow shoveling in winter).

Should you wish to work into October and through the Winter your job will become more varied. You would have 2 days Front Desk in the Winter and then a variety of dishwashing and housekeeping shifts to bring your hours into the 35-40 hour per week range. We are closed in November and April, however the front desk does have reduced hours during this period. 2 hours a day in November and 4 hours a day in April. You may plan on vacation time during this period after discussion with the other front desk person and the owners to make sure we are covered. For additional hours in off seasons you may also deep clean rooms.

Please stop by, e-mail or call for an application. Resumes are also welcome. Once an application is received and evaluated, we may schedule an interview.

General Information

Look at www.rapidslodge.com so you can see who we are, www.grandlakechamber.com has more pictures of the town etc. and www.rkymtnhi.com has more information on the area. The Rapids is situated in Grand Lake, 8700 feet above sea level (it will take about one week to acclimate to this high altitude). The Village of Grand Lake is very small and like an "Old Wild West Village", around 1000 permanent residents and it gets very busy in the summer with tourists. It is basically one street of cute shops and restaurants and lots of historic houses. It is very beautiful with 3 lakes and the Rocky Mountains.

The Rocky Mountain National Park is great fun to explore also. The closest city is Denver - about 2.5 hours away by car (it is unlikely you will get there very often in the summer), so if you want to be in a big city, this is not the place. If you want to be in the mountains, this is definitely the place to come. There will be other students from many countries in Grand Lake and in the area. Americans often help out with rides and fun excursions. Your entertainment will mostly be the great outdoors. There is a movie theatre in Winter Park 45 minutes away, ten-pin bowling in Grand Lake, and plenty of restaurants, marinas, stables and extensive hiking trails, boating and fishing.

You are permitted to find a second job but the Rapids schedule comes first at all times. We will prepare our schedule on Thursdays prior to the week beginning Monday.
